Kristin and Brian’s Wedding – Hacienda Siesta Alegre Inn, Puerto Rico – April 15th

I wrapped up my April with a fabulous destination wedding in Puerto Rico! Washington D.C. based couple, Kristin and Brian held their wedding at the Hacienda Siesta Alegra Inn, a stunning Spanish Colonial house located in the lush El Yunque rainforest. This location was jaw-dropping from every corner I turned! My lovely assistant Stefani and I arrived at the Inn a couple days prior to the wedding to be welcomed with a hammock directly outside our adorable suite! (See our fun Instagram collage below!) We were given a tour by a wonderful woman named Carmen who led us through the unique property to find every nook and cranny was filled with such authentic detail. We were greeted each morning with a delicious Puerto Rican breakfast and were blown away by the cuisine and lovely ladies who served us. Sounds of the coqui frogs serenaded us to sleep underneath a beautiful canopy bed of white netting. At night, Stefani and I relaxed on hammocks sipping wine and chatting, while listening to the sounds of a peaceful waterfall. Twinkling lights were strung everywhere illuminating the mosaic Spanish tile and white stucco walls. Kristin and Brian kicked off their wedding weekend with an intimate welcome fiesta held in the beautiful backyard of a nearby private home. Guests celebrated the start to the sure-to-be-fun weekend with margaritas in one hand and tacos in the other! The morning of their wedding day, Stefani and I toured the property photographing details all throughout. We visited the horse stables and talked to the locals and we lost count of how many hammocks we passed. This place was truly a retreat and incredibly peaceful. Later that afternoon, we met Kristin in her wedding suite to begin documenting the day! The room was filled with the excitement and bustle of Kristin and her girlfriends getting ready for the big day. Color did not disappoint when it came to Kristin’s bouquet and custom drawn wedding invitations! Come ceremony time, guests perched themselves on wooden benches on a vast lawn overlooking the rainforest. Kristin and Brian exchanged vows and listened to touching readings given by their closest family members. Cocktails and congratulatory conversation flowed following their processional and everyone was treated to an authentic Puerto Rican rum tasting. The courtyard of the hacienda set the tone for their reception with wooden farm tables boasting pops of hot pink bougainvillea, striking bird of paradise, and luscious greenery as their centerpieces. Hundreds of market lights and pink uplighting made their reception truly magical at night. Kristin and Brian made their reception uniquely their own with cutting into a pig on a spit in leu of cake. Nods to their love for Star Wars made it into their details and heartfelt speeches contributed to the memorability of their day. The happy couple ended their evening running through a tunnel of their friends and family carrying sparklers and sending them off! Thank you Kristin and Brian for one fabulous wedding!!!
